One Direction

Recently, you may have noticed your Twitter timeline full of young fan-girls tweeting "@Harry_Styles follow me please!!!" or "I’m your biggest fan @Real_Liam_Payne!!!” Or maybe you've noticed the trending topics on Twitter such as “#Bring1DToUs” or the song “What Makes You Beautiful” playing every 20 minutes on Y100. The new hit British-Irish boy band, One Direction, has made their impact on the United States. Founded in August 2010, members Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles placed third in the most recent season of X-Factor, quickly making them famous all over the world. Although I’m sure their good looks and luscious locks contributed to their great success.
These 5 boys have made one of the fastest climbs to stardom, with their album “Up All Night” debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 176,000 copies in only its first week. They are the first UK group in history to make it to the top of The Billboard 200 with their first album. Not only has their music gone viral, but they have recently had guest appearances on both iCarly and Saturday Night Live, both last Saturday night, April 7. The band has been on their “Up All Night” tour since December 2011. They don’t make it to the U.S. until summer 2012 but their concerts are already practically sold out.
I have never considered myself a “Directioner” but I must admit that I have caught myself humming “What Makes You Beautiful” the past few days… Watch yourself Justin Bieber, you may have some competition!

  1. They're so good! Their song What Makes You Beautiful is so perfect! Brittany and I jam out to that loll. Justin and the band should make a song together.

  2. "What Makes you Beautiful" is one of my favorite songs. Me and Megan always sing this song obnoxiously in softball practice, so it's weird that you would write about them. But it was a good article!

    1. This boy band fad is really out of control. I personally don't like their new song, yes it might be catchy but it's beyond annoying. I do hope they become more popular than Justin Bieber because he is a million times worse. One Direction may be famous now, but I hope they have enjoyed their five seconds of fame because it will not last much longer.

  3. I don't get the hype, from what I just listened to they weren't that good IMO.

  4. I'm still a little undecided as to my opinion of them. I happen to like "What Makes You Beautiful" but I'm not yet a fan of their other songs. Who knows how far they'll go, but as for now they've got a pretty strong fan group. One Direction is quickly becoming the "best" boy-band around, so let's see where they go.
